Beamish Hall is set in 24 acres of fantastic grounds and is 20 miles south of Newcastle upon Tyne, 10 miles north of Durham in the North East of England.

Beamish, The North of England
Open air museum, Beamish museum is situated directly across from Beamish Hall, it provides the perfect day for the whole family.

Visit the town, colliery, village, working farm, pockerley manor and 1825 railway, recreating life in the North East in the early 1800’s and 1900’s.

Tanfield railway
Exactly 1 mile walk from Beamish Hall you will find the world’s oldest working railway. The surviving 1725 Sunniside to Causey section is still running, the oldest part was 1647 with over 300 years of coal traffic.

Causey arch and picnic area
The worlds oldest surviving railway bridge built in 1725 stands over a rocky gorge, woodland walks and access to Tanfield railway.

Beamish lakes
Approximally half a mile from Beamish hall – opposite the South Causey Equesion Centre lies Beamish Lakes. The all trout fishing lake is in a perfect rural countryside setting clear rainwater fed lives under 10 feet deep both for fly and worm fishing.

Horse riding
Beamish Hall is set in the heart of wooded English country side, the perfect location to go out on a hack. We will be happy to provide the details of the local riding school.
